Of all the great rides in Italy, L'Eroica is in a class of it's own! Not only is it an unforgettable ride through the heart of Tuscany on little-known roads, it is also a celebration of the real spirit of cycling and the riders who layed the foundation of the history of the sport.

Imagine riding through Tuscany's most pristine regions such as the Chianti vineyards, the Val d'Arbia, and the Val d'Orcia on true backroads, some of them still on unpaved surfaces (the "strada bianche"), where you can relive the atmosphere and experiences of the great cyclists of the 1900s, the true "giants of the road." At Eroica, you will know what it felt like to ride a stage of the Giro d'Italia or the Tour de France in the early decades of the 1900's when cyclists carried their own spare tires around their shoulders, when rest stops consisted of sitting down at a cafe with a bottle of wine, and your jersey was made of wool.

Since this is a festival dedicated to the history of cycling, Eroica is the ride where everything "retro" is the priority. Wool jerseys, leather cycling helmets, antique bottle cages, mesh gloves, spare tires around the shoulders and shoes with clips on the pedals are the norm. (Yes, you can ride your modern road bike if you like). Of course, since this is an Italian ride, the rest stops are likewise legendary. Hot soups, Italian bread, cold meats, cheeses, desserts and wine are the staples of the Eroica rider!

Guests can choose between four different courses, depending on their fitness levels and the amount of suffering they want to endure (grin). They are the following: 205 kms (112 kms of gravel sections), 135 kms (70 kms on gravel), 75 kms (35 on gravel) or 38 kms (10 on gravel).

For our non-riding guests, they will be transported around the course on the day of the event so they can witness the beauty of Tuscany and cheer on their loved ones and the other riders. It is truly a great day for the entire family and one that you will strengthen your appreciation for the legends of the past while you create a new one of your own!
