Along with all the daily race action, you will have the opportunity
to climb such legendary climbs as the Col d'Aspin, the Col du Tourmalet,
Luz Ardiden, the Col d'Aubisque, and Hautacam. You can follow our
suggested daily itineraries based on our 14 years of experience
of planning award-winnng cycling vacations or you can modify them
so you have time to explore a certain village or market, visit a
nearby winery, or enjoy a family hike. Either way, you're the Boss!
Our
2010 France's Pro Tour - Pyrenees Self Guided Cycling Vacations
includes the following items:
- 4 nights of 3-star deluxe accommodations in Gavarine
( a UNESCO World Heritage Site town) in the Pyrenees National
Park.
- Gavarnie is 11.5 miles from the western base
of the Col du Tourmalet and the climb to Luz Ardiden.
- On-site Velo Echappe' staff to help you with any questions.
- Daily live viewing of France's Pro Tour during the final climatic
week in the French Pyrenees.
- Daily breakfasts and dinners.
- Daily Itinerary with written vehicle driving directions/maps
for all transfers.
- Daily cycling routes on France's Pro Tour official race routes
(past and present) with profiles and Q-sheets detailing each turn
with corresponding mileage.
- Dining, sightseeing, and shopping information.
- Pre-Tour Information Packet that details what to bring, how
to pack, how to prepare, etc.
The
following are NOT INCLUDED:
- Rental Car. We recommend that you contact our AAA Travel Agent,
Shelley Lulow, to arrange
your rental car reservation.
- Vehicle fuel, maintenance, repairs, and toll charges on the
Autoroute.
- Local airport or road tax fees.
- All parking tickets or road violations such as seatbelt fines.
(100 Euros on the spot or them impound your car! Be sure to wear
your seatbelts!)
- Theft of personal items including your car or luggage or bike
in either your vehicle or at your hotel.
- Beverages or wines ordered with any meal.
- Lunches.
- Phone calls.
- Hotel telephone charges or incidentals.
- "On-road" support - we offer no assistance to you
regarding the cycling itineraries or driving instructions. We
have prepared these in advance and you have the freedom to follow
them or do what you like. If you have an accident on the road,
you must contact the local police or authorities. Any charges
or costs for either the accident or hospital stays are your responsibility.
- Airport transfers.
- Airport pickup and dropoff.
- Additional night's at selected hotels.
- Personal health care assistance or illness evacuation and transport.
