Itinerary
Day One: Welcome to Spain / Short Ride and Welcome Dinner
We will meet you at 12 noon at the Girona Train Station and transfer you to the village of Porqueres and our charming boutique hotel nestled in the Catalan countryside. Following check-in for the next five nights, assemble your bike with the assistance of our professional mechanics or fine tune your rental bike before enjoying a short spin to loosen up. This evening, relax and enjoy our “Welcome Meeting and Dinner.”
Day Two: Cycling the Pla d'Estany & Besalú
After breakfast and a delicous coffee, we’ll ride the flat and rolling roads of Pla d’Estany that features beautiful Lake Banyoles. Afterwards, we’ll continue to one of Spain’s most stunning villages, Besalu, where we’ll enjoy lunch at a local cafe. This afternoon, following our return to the hotel, relax in the pool overlooking the Catalan countryside before dinner this evening.
Day Three: Girona Cycling & the Els Àngels Climb
Today you will get to experience one of the greatest cycling destinations in Catalonia - the charming town of Girona! Along the way, you’ll have the option to ride up one of the most popular climbs in the region that is a favorite with the pros, Els Angels, with it’s picturesque monastery at the summit. Afterwards, descend to Girona for lunch and coffee at one of our favorite spots before enjoying an afternoon discovering this lively town, a favorite of the pros for decades! Choose to continue riding back to the hotel or opt for the sag van before finishing your memorable day with a festive Catalan group dinner.
Day Four: Biking along the Costa Brava
Fuel up with a hearty breakfast before getting for our longest ride of the week as we make our way to the Mediterranean and the Costa Brava! Along the way, you’ll cycle through Catalonia’s rolling countryside before arriving into the seaside village of L’Escala, famous for its anchovies. Savor the relaxing views of the fishing village and the stunning coastline with a coffee stop and lunch on the beach. This afternoon. following our return to our hotel, we’ll enjoy a Catalan wine tasting party before our chef-prepared group dinner!
Day Five: Climbing Rocacorba & Farewell Dinner
Our final day of cycling in Catalonia will feature the most famous climb in the region, Rocacorba! For decades, this has been the favorite climb for pros and amateurs alike to gauge their fitness and form. Today, you can ride as much or as little as you like up this famous ascent. If you don’t want to ride this climb, we will have another route set up for you. This evening, we’ll conclude our unforgettable week together in Catalonia with our “Farewell Dinner!”
Day Six: Morning Ride / Transfer Day.
Enjoy your final breakfast and an optional short ride in Catalonia before we transfer you to the Girona Train Station for your departure. Estimated time of arrival is 12 noon.
