Itinerary

July 21 - Welcome to Grenoble / Transfer to L’Alpe d’Huez / Welcome Meeting and Dinner
We will meet you at the Grenoble Train Station at 12 noon and transfer you to the mythical village of L’Alpe d’Huez in the legendary French Alps. You’ve been reading about it for your entire life, now it’s time to experience it in person! Upon arrival, check into our luxury hotel for the next two nights before building up your bike or fine tune your rental bike. Afterwards, we’ll go for a short spin to loosen up before our “Welcome Meeting and Dinner” this evening.

July 22 - La Berarde and L’Alpe d’Huez
Begin your day with breakfast overlooking the French Alps before enjoying a thrilling descent to the valley below. We’ll warm-up with a ride towards La Berarde on some of the most beautiful roads in the region. Afterwards, get ready to ride the most famous 21 switchbacks in all of cycling as you challenge yourself on the ascent of L’Alpe d’Huez with full van support! Following your arrival at the finish line, get your photo taken atop the podium to commemorate your unforgettable day on the bike. Afterwards, enjoy lunch and a dip in the pool before watching the Stage 16 Time Trial on TV. This evening, enjoy exploring the local brasseries and restaurants of the village for dinner to celebrate your day.

July 23: L’Alpe d’Huez to La Grave / Col de Sarenne and Les Deux Alpes
Enjoy breakfast and a cafe au lait overlooking the surrounding peaks before getting ready for one of the most spectacular rides of your life! You’ll begin by riding the Col de Sarenne with it’s backcountry alpine feel before tackling the ascent of Les Deux Alpes. Back in 1998, Marco Pantani won an epic stage here in the pouring rain over Jan Ullrich that still lives in the memory of Tour fans everywhere. Following lunch in town, continue riding to La Grave, classified as “one of the most beautiful villages in France,” where you’ll check-in to our deluxe hotel for the next three nights. Reward yourself during our group dinner to finish off a memorable day on the roads of the Alps.

July 24: L’Alpe d’Huez at the Tour! / TDF Stage 19
Today is the “Super Bowl of Cycling!” Following breakfast, enjoy a thrilling descent on serpentine roads that are “pure Tour” before getting ready to ride up L’Alpe d’Huez on the same day as the Tour de France with cyclists and cheering fans from all around the world! For a cyclist, it doesn’t get any better than this. After lunch in town, get ready to experience all the craziness and passion of the Tour de France Publicity Caravan before cheering on the “Maillot Jaune” and your other favorites as they race to the finish! Following the return to our hotel, we’ll celebrate your legendary day with a delicious group dinner!

July 25: Col de Lautaret and Col de Galibier / TDF Stage 20
Enjoy your breakfast overlooking the Alps before cycling up the Col de Lautaret with the option of the “beyond category” Col de Galibier. The Galibier was the first pass crossed by the Tour de France in the Alps back in 1911 and features a memorial to the founder of the race, Henri Desgrange. From here, you will be able to cheer on the Tour’s Publicity Caravan before getting ready to see the “Maillot Jaune” and the peloton as they battle it out on this epic, final mountain stage. If you don’t want to ride today, the Tour will also pass through La Grave as it is on the “official race route” for today’s climatic stage. This evening, we’ll celebrate the Yellow Jersey, the Tour de France, and your adventure in the Alps with our “Farewell Dinner!”

July 26: Transfer Day
Savor your final breakfast at the hotel before we transfer you to the Grenoble Train Station. From here, you can get a train to Paris, Geneva, Nice or other parts of Europe. Estimated arrival time is around 12 noon.
